Digital Cable
Digital cable is the distribution of cable television using digital data and video compression. The technology was first developed by General Instruments. By 2000, most cable companies offered digital features, eventually replacing their previous analog-based cable in the mid-2010s. In the late 2000s, broadcast television transitioned to the digital HDTV standard, which was incompatible with existing analog cable systems.
Analog Cable
Analog television is the original television technology that uses analog signals to transmit video and audio. In an analog television broadcast, brightness, color, and noise are represented by the amplitude, phase, and frequency of an analog signal. Analog signals vary over a continuous range of possible values which means electronic noise and interference can be introduced. Thus with analog, a moderately weak signal becomes muddy and subject to interference.
